Shoe String Safaris **** Specializing In Quality West Texas Hunting Adventures.

Hello, and WELCOME to Shoe String Safaris, my name is Randall Weems and I am the owner/operator of Shoe String Safaris.

I specialize in Guided Javelina hunting and also offer hunting for Rio Grande strain Wild Turkey during the Spring Season.

I have been hunting Javelina in both South and West Texas since 1991,  but my hunting experience covers over 40 years and many of North Americas Game Animals and Birds.

During that time I have been able to hunt in 5 states, including Texas and two Canadian Provinces.

I decided to specialize in Javelina, simply because I know of no one else that does, and Javelina are usually offered as a Side Dish to the main course of something else.

Hope you enjoy visiting my web site and if you find that you are interested in putting a hunt together, just contact me and I will see what I can work out with you.

Update: I am please to announce that I have joined forces with a long time friend, Robert Stewart, in a new hunting operation that he has started.

Stewart Ranch Enterprises is based out of Olney Texas in Young county and has properties in Archer, Baylor, Young, and Throckmorton counties, in the North Central area of Texas south of Wichita Falls.

Hunting opportunities are just part of Stewart Ranch Enterprises businesses, which include a Grocery Store in Olney and farming and cattle operations on some of the properties they own.

Hunting opportunities for the following species can be arranged on these properties.

White tail Deer, Trophy Buck / Management Buck / Antlerless Only , or combinations of these.

Feral Hog, Spring Turkey, Waterfowl, Dove, Bobwhite Quail and Predators.

Robert has been managing most of these properties since 2000, and has recently started offering these Guided hunt opportunities.

In addition we also offer hunting lease maintenance services and consultation.

Thank You.

The following pictures are of the two Rio Grande Gobblers that I killed at the end of my 2009 hunts in March, and my first ever bow kill of a game animal.

The turkeys were taken with a Model 60 Marlin 22 Long Rifle, and yes, hunting turkeys with a rifle, including 22 rim fire, is legal in many counties in Texas.

The second picture is of the 50 pound plus, female Javelina I killed with an old 40 pound pull Herter's FiberGlass Recurve bow and a Flint Tipped wooden arrow. I worked my way to within 12 to 15 yards of the animal for the shot. This was it my first Javelina with a bow, and my first game animal ever with a bow.

Please pardon the expression on my face in the picture with the turkey's, under normal circumstances, I do not enjoy having my picture or pictures of my kills taken, as I prefer folks to see the faces and game of my clients.

Welcome to Shoe String Safaris!

I started this operation back in 1998 and have operated on the same ranch ever since.

During the time I have been in business, I have learned what the average person wants and expects when going on this type of hunt.

My goal is to provide a hunting experience that will make memories that will last a life time.

I specialize in offering Guided Javelina hunts, and during season, Spring Turkey hunts for Rio Grande strain turkeys, for both firearm and archery hunters.

The land owner and his wife are really super nice folks and enjoy meeting our clients.

My prices are competitive with those of other folks offering hunts for javelina and Spring Turkey
, but look around, I am one of the few, if not the only operation specializing in hunts for javelina.

These are actual hunts, not two days of sitting in a stand/blind, watching a feeder.

I can supply that type hunt if a client wishes it, but very few of our clients ever take us up on it, simply because doing spot and stalk hunting for javelina is more exciting.

I call my operation Shoe String Safaris, simply because I offer a quality and successful hunting experience, without pricing the average hunter out of the market, or offering a lot of un-necessary frills and amenities that don't really add to the hunting experience.

The hunts take place in one of the prettiest and most interesting parts of Texas.

Come out and give it a try and you will understand why I chose this area to set up the operation.

We Thank You for the interest you have shown in our operation, and hope to be able to set you up with the type of trip you are interested in.

One important point that we want our clients or potential clients to keep in mind when considering booking with us, is that hunting is a very strenuous activity.

It has many inherent risk factors, including but not limited to, traveling thru rough and rugged terrain with firearms and archery equipment, either in vehicles or on foot, and dealing with inhospitable and potentially dangerous plants and wildlife, additionally since our hunts are conducted on a working cattle ranch, normal ranching activities can sometimes interfere with a hunt.

We may be required to hunt areas different than normally hunted, but the whole ranch is quality javelina habitat and we have killed javelina in every pasture on the ranch.

The staff of Crazyhorse Consulting, is going to do everything humanly possible to ensure our clients of a safe, memorable, and hopefully successful hunt.

However, we make no guarantees, written, expressed, or implied, as to any individuals safety or their success rate on these trips, we do guarantee that you will see javelinas and will have shot opportunites, we just do not guarantee your proficiency with your equipment.

It is the responsibility of our clients, to decide the level of involvement they are comfortable with when on their hunt, and to discuss any concerns with your guide or the Camp Manager, as expediently as possible.

We will not ask nor expect our clients to do anything they are uncomfortable in doing.

We require our clients to conduct themselves in a safe manner, especially when handling their firearms or archey tackle, and for them to be aware of their surroundings at all times when in the field.

We also ask that when in the field hunting, that you listen to your guide and follow his instructions or game plan.

All of our guides have hunted javelina with us on the ranch in the past, and they know what they are doing.

They all work hard at, and enjoy seeing their hunters be successful.

If you do have a problem however, please address the problem with either the Head Guide or the Camp Manager, at the earliest moment possible.

Sunset on the ranch.
